A deep olive sunburst, brushed from the centre outwards before the colour goes on, then shaded almost to black at the rim. In daylight it opens up and reads green; indoors it closes down and passes for a dress watch.
Forty millimetres of stainless steel, ten thin, about 137 grams — enough weight to feel like a proper watch, low enough to sit under a cuff. Fluted bezel, integrated bracelet, the day spelled out at twelve and the date at three under a cyclops.

What you notice first.
The dial
Brushed into a sunburst before the colour is applied, then shaded darker toward the rim. Open and bright in daylight, close to black indoors.
The bezel
Each flute cut and polished separately, so the bezel catches light before the dial does as your wrist turns.
On the wrist
Forty millimetres across, ten thin, about 137 grams of solid steel. Presence without sitting high on the wrist.
Left alone
Under a second a day, three years on a battery, and 50 metres of water resistance. Day and date advance on their own.
Where the colour moves.
Hundreds of fine lines are cut from the centre outwards before any colour goes on, so light travels across the surface rather than sitting on it. The shading takes the rim down almost to black while the centre stays open. Applied polished batons, Arabic 6 and 9, and the V at twelve. The day is spelled out in full at twelve; the date sits at three beneath a cyclops lens that magnifies it.

Case
316L stainless steel, 40 mm across and 10 mm deep. Brushed across the flats, polished along the bevels, with a fluted bezel and a screw-down crown. Water resistant to 5 ATM.
Movement
Miyota calibre 2350 — Japanese quartz with day and date. It holds time to under a second a day, where a certified mechanical watch is permitted six, and runs about three years on an SR626SW cell.
Engraving
The case back carries VANTOS VANGUARD with 316L stainless steel, sapphire coated crystal, reference 500388 and water resistant 5ATM. The crown carries the V, the clasp the reference.
Bracelet
Integrated stainless steel running straight out of the case, tapering from 25 to 18 mm, with a steel clasp left unplated on both finishes.
